Before joining the Brighter Vista team, Janet served for 10 years as clinic administrator of her husband’s medical practice. Christ is central to both Janet and her husband. They have two grandsons and are anticipating a granddaughter in August 2016. Janet is the caregiver for Stewie, the Vista mascot.
Gwen first learned the joy of working with children by helping her very skilled mother in church preschool classes. She later graduated from Calvary Bible College with a degree in Elementary Education, and taught in the classroom for six years. After staying home to school her own children for fifteen adventure-filled years, Gwen discovered the world of Educational Therapy when her struggling son needed help. She received NILD training from Catherine and Velda, and has been happily working with her students at Brighter Vistas for the past seven years.
While teaching in West Africa, she met her husband, Stephen. After returning to the States and having their two daughters, the entire family moved to Indonesia. While there Janet and her husband worked with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and Education designing programs to enhance rural health services for women and children living in villages throughout Indonesia. Janet specifically worked as a consultant to the Ministry of Education, designing and implementing a health curriculum, textbook, workbook and teaching materials to be taught to 4th and 5th grade students.
Janet Robinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Language Therapy from West Texas State University and a Degree of Master of Education from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition she holds an all-levels teaching certification. After several years as a speech therapist working with hearing impaired students, K-12, she journeyed overseas.
